The PCCC Executive Committee would like to congratulate Tom Suozzi on his recent victory in the Congressional race for New York’s Congressional District #3. While the Queens portion only makes up about 20% of CD #3, the impact on the election’s outcome was significant. Mr. Suozzi won the Queen’s part of the District by 23%, which gave him a wide enough cushion so that the Associated Press could call the election without finishing the vote tabulation in the Nassau part of the District.
A significant factor in Mr. Suozzi’s strong showing in Queens is his strong advocacy on behalf of Co-op and Condo homeowners, who make up a large percentage of the Queens voters in CD #3. Over the past decade, the PCCC has worked with Congress Member Suozzi on a wide range of issues that have had a substantial impact and benefit to Co-op and Condo homeowners in CD#3. At present, there are several significant issues that we are looking forward to working on with Congress Member Suozzi, including Federal Grants for Local Law 97 compliant projects; amending the Stafford Act so that Co-ops will be eligible for FEMA aid in the event of a disaster; and solving Co-op lending issues with Fannie Mae.
We wish Mr. Suozzi good luck and look forward to continuing our partnership on behalf of the Co-op/Condo community.
