The issue of the fair application of Local Law 97 (“the Climate Mobilization Act”) is a major issue in the Co-op/Condo community. It has received extensive press coverage in the last several months. The PCCC leadership is pleased to send you a recent Op-Ed in the Queens Courier by former US Congressman Tom Suozzi. In this Op-Ed, Mr. Suozzi cites a recent bill introduced by New York City Council Members Linda Lee and Sandra Ung known as Intro 1197. The PCCC is calling this bill the “Co-op Rescue Act”. As we have discussed in several prior memos to our members, this Intro is designed specifically to soften the potential crushing economic blow in the form of LL 97 retrofits and penalties to working and middle-class Co-op/Condo homeowners.

This Intro is receiving tremendous support from numerous NY Council members and we are hoping that it is brought to a Committee hearing in the next few months. The PCCC Board truly appreciates Mr. Suozzi writing this Op-Ed. He has been working closely with the PCCC Board for years and has always been a great supporter of Coop/Condo homeowners.
