Local Law 97 Update-Queens Co-op Owners Attend Town Halls throughout Queens

In the past several weeks, Queens Co-op homeowners have shown up in droves to voice their concerns about the potentially devastating financial impact of Local Law 97 and encourage New York City Council members to support Intro 1197, the so-called “Co-op Rescue Act”. These recent Town Halls were held in Sunnyside, Bayside, and Long Island City respectively.

NY City Council member Julie Won attended the Sunnyside meeting, Vickie Paladino and Linda Lee attended the Bayside meeting and Tiffany Caban attended the Long Island City meeting. We are pleased to report that Council Members Won, Paladino, and Lee are all Sponsors of Intro 1197. Council Member Caban would not commit to supporting this legislation. This legislation will provide much-needed relief for middle and working-class Co-op homeowners and has already received support from over twenty (20) NY City Council members. We are working hard to get many more Sponsors.

PCCC Executive Member and Legal Advisor Geoffrey Mazel was a featured speaker at the Sunnyside and Long Island City meetings and co-President Bob Friedrich and Warren Schreiber were featured speakers at the Bayside meeting.

Below is media coverage of both the Sunnyside meeting and the Bayside meeting:
