As part of the PCCC’s ongoing efforts to provide a voice to the Coop community, our Executive Members Bob Friedrich, Warren Schreiber, Michael DeValera, and Geoffrey Mazel testified at a joint hearing of the Environmental Protection Committee and the Housing & Building Committee. We used this opportunity to inform the numerous Council members in attendance of the potentially devastating impact that Local Law 97(Climate Mobilization Act) will have on our Coop members if not implemented properly. We emphasized the need for government assistance in the form of grants and tax credits for Local Law 97 projects, as well as the reduction or elimination of the crushing penalties in that statute.

 

Our message was well received and the Committee Chairs Gennaro and Sanchez have requested a separate meeting with our organization to see if there is common ground to obviate the potential harm this statute may impose on our members. We will keep you apprised of any new developments.
