PCCC Supports the Tier 4 Energy Program

The issue of renewable energy is front and center in Queens, NY and the President’s Co-op & Condo Executive has taken a position in support of the so-called “Tier 4 Energy Program”. This program provides for several projects to provide renewable energy to New York City and reduce its’ reliance on fossil fuels. We have been informed that at present, over 90% of New York City’s electric grid is served by fossil fuel.

The proposed Chaplain Hudson Power Express project is now shovel-ready and will provide up to 20% of the electric needs of New York City by using renewable hydroelectric power from Quebec and transmitting it to a facility in Astoria, NY.  The only remaining issue is the approval by the New York State Public Service Commission. Public comments ended on March 7, 2022, and we are pleased to report that the PCCC submitted its comments in support of this project.

The PCCC supports this project at many levels, including the addition of thousands of jobs; a substantial reduction in the use of fossil fuels which is good for the environment and further supporting energy independence and avoiding our reliance on fossil fuels. Attached please find the link to an article recently in the Queens Chronicle detailing this program.
